Andy Bishop spared Bury's blushes when his header 15 minutes from time saved the Shakers from a shock defeat to non-league Weymouth.
Two goals in 10 second-half minutes from Simon Weatherstone and Richard Logan meant an upset was on the cards before Nishop struck.
The Terras had the better of the opening exchanges with Logan having a goal ruled out after five minutes and Ashley Vickers seeing his header cleared off the line.
Marc Pugh put the Shakers in front against the run of play midway through the first half when he stroked home a loose ball from 12 yards out.
Weatherstone got Weymouth on level terms five minutes after the break.
Paul Scott could only half-clear the ball and Weatherstone drilled a right-footed shot home from the edge of the area.
And they were in front after 55 minutes when Logan powerfully headed in Lee Elam's inch-perfect cross.
Elam nearly got himself on the scoresheet moments later when his header hit the post from Abdelhalim El Kholti's cross.
Weymouth were left to rue that miss when Bury equalised late on after a mistake by keeper Aaron Lee-Barrett.
The 22-year-old rashly came off his line to clear Nicky Adams' left wing cross but failed to connect with the ball allowing Bishop to nod home.
