MADRID, June 10 (Primera Liga) - Relegated Gimnastic Tarragona clinched only their seventh Primera Liga victory of the season on Sunday afternoon with a narrow away win over Getafe.
Ismael Irurzun's goal 11 minutes from time proved decisive in what was to all intents and purposes a meaningless match, with Manu passing up a chance to equalise when Ruben Perez Chueca saved his late penalty.
The hosts, who had more than one eye firmly fixed on the Copa del Rey final, failed to find the breakthrough despite facing lowly opponents who remain cast adrift at the foot of the table.
Bernd Schuster's side are eighth in the standings, safe from relegation and already assured of a first ever place in the UEFA Cup next season.
Getafe thumped Barcelona to book themselves a place in the cup final against Sevilla, who have already secured a Champions League qualifiers berth at the very least.
That means the Azulones can lose the June 23 final in the Bernabeu and still enjoy a first sortie into European competition.
The match got off to a slow start with both sides failing to create any clear-cut chances.
Juan Diaz Prendes drilled a left-footed free-kick into the wall from 25 yards for Nastic in the 14th minute after Gonzalez Carlos Merino was brought down by Fabio Celestini.
Ruben Pulido fired over the crossbar in response from 20 yards for the hosts three minutes later.
Visiting goalkeeper Perez Chueca was called into action for the first time just after the half-hour mark to keep out Valentin Pachon's close-range header from Manu's cross.
Pachon again tried his luck three minutes later with a long-distance shot which flew wide of the right-hand post, while Javi Casquero blasted another effort wide from 30 yards for the hosts shortly afterwards.
Anibal Matellan shot wide for Nastic from 12 yards eight minutes before the interval as both sides struggled to make the breakthrough.
Perez Chueca did well to parry a Cosmin Contra header from Mario Cotelo's inswinging right-footed corner two minutes later in what proved the last action of a disappointing first half.
The second period began with an opportunity for Manu, but he shot wide with his left foot from close range.
Getafe then suffered a blow when goalkeeper Roberto Abbondanzieri sustained an injury and had to be replaced by Luis Garcia.
And the deputy stopper managed only just over 10 minutes before being beaten, Irurzun's left-footed strike from inside the six-yard box finding the bottom-left corner.
Martin Ruben Castro looked to double Nastic's advantage moments later but could only fire wide from 12 yards.
And it looked like the visitors would be made to pay three minutes from time when a penalty was awarded following handball by Cesar Navas.
Manu stepped up to take the kick, and sent his effort towards the bottom-right corner only to see it parried by Perez Chueca.
