Andy Bishop was Bury's hero with a vital late goal that settled a scrappy relegation clash at Boston.
The three points eased Chris Casper's side's relegation fears and ended a 16-match winless run for the visitors, while dealing a severe blow to Boston's hopes of survival.
Boston had the better of the opening exchanges with Francis Green spurning two early opportunities to give his side the lead.
Bury goalkeeper Andy Warrington did well to dash out of his goal and keep out Drewe Broughton's strike.
Boston continued to press and angled strikes from Broughton and Green flashed inches wide.
Casper's side missed a great opportunity to break the deadlock when Glynn Hurst connected with Bishop's right-wing cross but glaringly fired over with the goal gaping.
But the visitors were not to be denied and Bishop swivelled to fire in from 15 yards after Darren Kempson headed down Dave Challinor's free-kick.
