Kezie Ibe and Jason Hallett were on the scoresheet as Canvey came from a goal down to beat Southport 2-1.
Steve Ward's own goal put Liam Watson's side ahead before second-half strikes from Ibe and Hallett sealed the points.
Canvey were the better side early on with the lively Ibe causing the Southport defence numerous problems - the 22-year-old narrowly missing the target on three occasions from the edge of the box.
But it was Southport who took the lead against the run of play when the luckless Ward turned the ball past Richard McKinney.
Ibe restored parity, notching his third goal of the season from close range after Stuart Bimson's cross was headed back across goal by Neil Gregory.
Hallett stretched Canvey's unbeaten run to three games when he headed home Dwayne Clarke's centre.
