Super-sub Carl Heggs rescued a point for Tamworth with a last-gasp equaliser to secure a 1-1 draw at 10-man Southport.
Southport's Terry Fearns and Tamworth striker Darren Mansaram exchanged early efforts in a nervy opening 45 minutes.
An uneventful encounter burst into life three minutes into the second half when Southport defender Neil Fitzhenry was dismissed for throwing an elbow at a Tamworth player.
But the 10 men rallied and Carl Baker fired them ahead five minutes later from close range following good work from Steve Daly.
Baker and Kevin Leadbetter went close as the hosts tried to make sure late on but Heggs made them pay for their missed opportunities by converting Bob Taylor's cross from the right deep into injury time.
