Canvey Island 1-0 Scarborough
Canvey Island ended a run of three successive Conference defeats with a 1-0 victory at home to Scarborough.
John Kennedy's first goal for the club in the 17th minute was enough to settle the outcome as Scarborough lost for the second time in three matches.
Jeff Minton went close to putting Canvey ahead in the 16th minute but Scarborough goalkeeper Leigh Walker punched away his shot.
However, Walker was picking the ball out of the net a minute later when Kennedy slotted it home from six yards.
Canvey should have stretched their lead by half time as Dominic Sterling headed over and saw his well-struck shot saved by Walker. Neil Gregory then volleyed Stuart Bimson's cross wide.
Canvey continued where they had left off at the start of the second half and within three minutes Kezie Ibe had nearly added a second goal.
Scarborough finally produced a goal threat and Jake Speight fired wide before Neil Redfearn lifted the ball over the crossbar from close range, but they failed to find an equaliser.
