On-loan Jake Speight marked his debut with a goal as Scarborough earned their first victory of the season, 2-0 away to Dagenham.
Speight, who has moved to the McCain Stadium from Sheffield United, volleyed home Ian Clark's centre from close range with five minutes remaining before setting up Brian Wake to secure the points in stoppage time.
Dagenham's Chris Moore, who netted 21 goals last season, went close to scoring for the second successive game in the fifth minute but Boro goalkeeper Leigh Walker was equal to the task.
The visitors had their first shot of the match in the 54th minute, Kevin Nicholson forcing Tony Roberts into a save before David Elebert missed a decent chance to put Boro ahead.
But the late double salvo was enough to lift Scarborough off the bottom of the table.
