ALBACETE, May 8 (Primera Liga) - Albacete continue to cling to life in the Primera Liga after securing three points against fellow-strugglers Levante in a stormy encounter at the Estadio Carlos Belmonte on Sunday.
The hosts went into the match knowing anything less than a win would see them relegated from the top flight, but goals from Javier Francisco, Pablo Redondo and Mark Gonzalez saw Albacete to a three-goal lead.
Sergio Garcia pulled one back for Levante, but any hopes of a comeback were quickly ended when the same player was dismissed just moments later.
Two more red cards were then shown to Albacete's Santi and Reggi Gustavo of Levante as the pressure of what was at stake began to make its mark on both sides.
However, it was Albacete who finished the match the happier with victory lifting them off the foot of the table and moving them eight points behind their opponents with three fixtures left.
Albacete began well and after two minutes created the first opening of the match with Levante keeper Juan Mora making a good save following Gonzalez's dangerous shot.
But Levante soon got a foot in the game and after 25 minutes Ian Harte almost caught home keeper Ronald Gaspercic off guard when his left-footed free-kick took a wicked deflection.
But the Albacete shot-stopper kept his composure to tip the ball around the post.
Sergio was the next Levante player to try his luck with an impressive run and powerful shot, but Gaspercic again proved equal to the challenge with another finger-tip save.
Just as Levante looked to be taking control of the game, the hosts struck with a 38th-minute counter attack led by Francisco, who darted through the defence before finding the top corner with his curling effort.
Albacete then added to their tally after 51 minutes, as Redondo's run into the box culminated in a volley past Mora in the Levante goal.
Just two minutes later it was 3-0 to the home side with Redondo turning provider for Gonzalez, who headed home from close range.
Levante gave themselves a temporary lifeline in the 59th minute when Harte's free-kick was headed in by Sergio.
However, his attempts to quickly retrieve the ball from the back of the net ended in controversy when a heated debate with Gaspercic saw the Levante striker sent off by referee Luis Medina Cantalejo.
Moments later the red card made another appearance when a fierce tackle from Santi left the Albacete defender walking off the pitch.
And 15 minutes from time Levante found themselves down to nine men with Reggi wrongly choosing to vent his frustration at referee Cantalejo.
The reduced numbers put an end to any hopes of more goals as Albacete picked up three vital points which see them live to fight another day in La Liga.
