AJACCIO, May 1 (Ligue 1) - AC Ajaccio missed the chance to leave the relegation zone following a dour goalless draw with Guingamp, who will now feel more confident of preserving their Ligue 1 status.
Guingamp are now four points clear of the drop zone with four matches left, while the Corsicans are still in the bottom three, one point behind Toulouse, who drew 1-1 at Lens.
The opportunities were not lacking in the first half: Jerome Leroy could have put the visitors ahead after 11 minutes, while Martial Robin, twice, and Mamadou Bagayoko went close to putting Ajaccio in the lead.
The home side looked the more likely to break the deadlock and they almost took the lead in the 59th minute, Gregory Lacombe and Bagayoko combining well only to be thwarted by the reflexes of Guingamp keeper Ronan Le Crom.
Leroy for Guingamp and Yacine Bezzaz for the home side both had further opportunities, but the game always appeared destined to end goalless - and so it proved.
