Chico a doubt for Wembley

Chico Flores could miss Swansea's Capital One Cup final date with Bradford after suffering an ankle injury in the emphatic 4-1 win over QPR.

The Spaniard was stretchered off just after the half-hour mark having twisted his ankle attempting to make a low clearing header and he was later spotted leaving the Liberty Stadium on crutches. A fracture has been ruled out and he will travel to Dubai for next week's warm-weather training camp.

Michael Laudrup said: "We have to wait to see if it is only a twisted ankle or it could be more damage with the ligaments. We have to wait for the scan but if it is ligaments he would definitely be out of the final.

"We will see first if there is anything that needs surgery, the more things we can exclude right now the better. If it is ligament damage we need to see how bad it is and make a decision from there.''

Michu's double ended a run of six games without a goal for the forward. But Laudrup said his lack of goals in recent week was never a concern.

"Maybe it was a bigger problem for him than us,'' he said. "For me who scores is not important, but he had been scoring a lot and then had a run without them, but that happens to everybody.

"He is not even a centre-forward, he is an offensive midfielder who can play there and score goals. But he does more than waiting for the ball up front, he works hard for us and he has never been a problem for us, even if he has not been scoring goals.

"When you have players playing all the games there will be moments when they are not 100%. Even when he is not having chances he is working in other areas.''

Defeat means QPR, who were again without Loic Remy, remain rooted firmly to the foot of the Premier League table, still six points adrift of safety with 12 games remaining. Remy was not risked due to a groin injury, but Redknapp revealed goalkeeper Julio Cesar had played with a similar injury.

Redknapp said: "We gave some bad goals away, I can't look at them and say they were particularly good, there were some bad errors today. Our keeper has been fantastic, probably as good as any goalie in the league, but he played with a groin strain because he felt he was okay but obviously he wasn't at his best today.

"He felt he was fine and I can only go by what he tells me, I was told he was okay. He had a problem kicking and obviously when we passed the ball back he got himself under pressure.

"But in the previous five games when we have done well he has played well, but he had a bad day, that's how it goes.''

But Redknapp remains confident the Rs can avoid the drop. He said: "We have 12 games left and we have to win as many as we can, I would say we have to win six at least. We have got to keep believing, if you give up what chance have you got?''
