Depleted Annan eye top spot

Annan will be without injured pair Steven Black and Steven Logan as they bid to go top with victory over East Stirlingshire.

Black misses out due to an ankle injury and Logan is struggling with a foot problem.

The Galabank men came from two goals down to beat Elgin at the weekend and manager Jim Chapman has told his players they need to do better against the Shire.

Chapman said: "If we play like we did in the first half on Saturday and go two goals down we may not get back into things.

"Our opponents are a strong and experienced side who will be very determined to keep hold of their number one spot."

The Shire who lost 2-0 to Montrose on Saturday will be without four players as they look to keep hold of the pole position they have occupied since the first day of the season.

A knee injury continues to keep Nathan Shepherd out with Paul Quinn (groin), Jamie Glasgow (thigh) and Max Wright (hamstring) all missing.

Head coach John Coughlin could also be without expectant father David Greenhill.

Coughlin said: "Three of the missing players are strikers and that is disappointing as we are creating chances but not taking them.

"Annan are on a good run, but we're determined to stay where we are."
