Chelsea v Steaua Bucuresti: Preview

Jose Mourinho insists there will be no compromise in Chelsea's attacking approach despite their stuttering recent form.

Mourinho is frustrated at the Blues' shortcomings up front and in defence, admitting even the training aids would have the good fortune to score against his side at present.

Mourinho said: ``We have to kill opponents. We have to score goals. We are also conceding goals defensively.

``In this moment if you train defensive corners against the dummies, I think one dummy will score, because all the rebounds they go to the opponents.''

Chelsea will bid to respond from Saturday's Premier League loss at Stoke on Wednesday night against Steaua Bucharest at Stamford Bridge and must win to be certain of top spot in Champions League Group E after two losses to Basle.

But Mourinho was adamant Chelsea's style will not be altered, in comments which could be interpreted as a veiled criticism of predecessor Rafael Benitez.

The Chelsea boss said: ``Am I going to change the style and play more defensive players? No. Am I going to play David Luiz in front of the central defenders? No.

``Am I going to play with four plus two and the wingers closing behind and leaving Fernando in attack waiting for a counter attack, waiting for a long ball to try to win 1-0? No.

``We go in the same direction.''

Chelsea have already qualified for the last 16, but know Basle can overtake them by winning at Schalke.

Steaua may already be eliminated from Europe this season, but head coach Laurentiu Reghecampf hopes to finish ton a high.

``It is a pity that we are in this situation now,'' Reghecampf said.

``Initially I was hoping that this would become an important game where we would have a chance to qualify for the next round, or even to get into the Europa League.

``Now of course for us the domestic league is the main priority at this stage, but this doesn't mean we are not concentrated here.

``We know it will be a very difficult. Chelsea want to finish top of the group and they have to win in order to do that. I just hope we will make a good game.

``We want to play a good game here and not repeat the mistakes that were made in the first leg.

``I think the result was much more important when we played here in the Europa League than it is now.

``But for all of us, for me, for my team, for Romanian football it is very important to have a positive game and hopefully also a positive result.''

Steaua, without suspended captain Alexandru Bourceanu, are struggling for form domestically and in Europe, where they have three points from draws with Basle (twice) and Schalke.

They won 2-0 at home to Otelul last Thursday to end a run of five successive draws and book a place in the Romanian Cup semi-finals.

Captain John Terry is among those expected to be rested, but fit-again Brazilians Luiz (knee) and Oscar (ankle) could return.
