Lazio v Chievo Verona: Preview

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has urged the Biancoceleste fans to get over their disappointment regarding the club's transfer policy and stand behind their team.

Reports in Rome claim a section of supporters are set to launch a protest against the club management prior to Sunday's game against Chievo at the Stadio Olimpico.

Fans were angry with Lazio's failure to bring Galatasaray striker Burak Yilmaz on deadline day after selling Libor Kozak to Aston Villa this summer.

``If the fans have a stomach ache, I suggest they have an Alka-Seltzer,'' Lotito told to Corriere dello Sport. ``The first one to be unhappy is me as the fans are not turning up to the stadium in numbers.

``The fans have to go to the stadium and support the team.

``If they believe the results are not satisfying, they can criticise us but only once the season is over.

``We have a competitive side and we can do well.''

The Biancoceleste lost 4-1 at Juventus in the last round having beaten Udinese 2-1 in their Serie A opener.

Lazio, coached by Vladimir Petkovic, suffered a blow last week with defender Stefan Radu ruled out for two months with a knee injury sustained in training.

Rivals Chievo expect striker Cyril Thereau to open his Serie A account this season in the Eternal City.

Thereau, who scored 11 goals in 37 appearances for the Flying Donkeys last season to help them finish 12th, was linked with a move away from Verona this summer.

However, Chievo held onto the striker much to the delight of coach Giuseppe Sannino.

``Our biggest signing this summer is Thereau,'' Sannino said.``If he plays the way he did last season, he can make a difference.''

Chievo have taken one point from their opening two games.
