AC Milan v Fiorentina: Preview

AC Milan will pull out all the stops to upset Fiorentina when the two sides meet on Saturday at the San Siro.

The Rossoneri go into the match on the back of a disappointing week which saw them being held to a 1-1 draw against Lazio on Wednesday having previously fallen 3-2 at Parma.

- Paul: Milan running out of excuses, time

Milan have won just two of their last eight league games and lie 10th in the standings.

They are now 13 points adrift of Juventus, who are third and hold the last Champions League qualifying spot, and the pressure is starting to tell on coach Massimiliano Allegri.

``We need to bounce back and climb up in the standings, starting with a win against Fiorentina,'' Allegri said. ``We need to give our best in order to obtain maximum points.

``The only way to come out of this difficult situation is by working hard.

``I expect a strong performance from my players on Saturday.''

Milan, who travel to the Nou Camp to face Barcelona in the Champions League on Wednesday, are still without injured defender Matias Silvestre.

Allegri expects to have Christian Abbiati available with the veteran goalkeeper having missed the last two league games through injury.

Should Abbiati fail to recover, Gabriel will start on goal.

Rivals Fiorentina head into the encounter in Milan having seen their unbeaten run at home this season come to an end in Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to Napoli.

The outcome in Florence was Fiorentina's second loss of the campaign and dropped the Viola to sixth place.

But Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella was not too downhearted with the result and expects his team to bounce back immediately.

``We displayed great football against Napoli and I'm only disappointed by the final result,'' Montella said. ``We are playing well and we have to give continuity to our performances.

``I know my players will be very motivated to win on Saturday.''

Fiorentina will be without midfielder Juan Cuadrado, who serves a one-match ban, but will be bolstered by the return of defender Gonzalo Rodriguez from suspension.

Giuseppe Rossi, who is Serie A's top scorer with nine goals, will lead Fiorentina's attack.
