Udinese v Hellas Verona: Preview

PA Sport

Things have not quite gone according to plan for Udinese this season, but there is still much to play for starting with Monday's game against Hellas Verona.

The Friuli outfit have won just six of their 17 Serie A games so far and lie six points above the drop zone heading into their first game in 2014.

Udinese return from the winter break in 11th place on 20 points.

``It's clear that we have to give a lot more than with respect to what we have done so far this season,'' Udinese captain Antonio Di Natale said.

``We know we could have given a lot more and we cannot be satisfied with our campaign so far.

``Our coach Francesco Guidolin has to be calm because he has the full support of the team and of the club.

``The important thing is to get a positive start to the year in order to get the right harmony and calmness in the group.''

Hellas have been impressive at home this season - winning eight of their nine games in Verona.

However, Andrea Mandorlini's side have struggled to show the same form when playing on the road.

The Verona outfit, who gained promotion to the top flight last summer, have won just once away from home this campaign.

Hellas head into the encounter at the Friuli stadium on the back of a 4-1 win over Lazio which marked their ninth victory of the campaign.

The result lifted Hellas to sixth in the standings, 15 points clear of the drop zone.

Hellas president Maurizio Setti is very satisfied with his team's campaign so far but has demanded his players keep up the good work.

``I continue to repeat that the season is long and our aim remains avoiding relegation,'' he said.

``We are a side who must always be fighting for survival, even if we got promotion and are enjoying a great moment of form.

``I knew that we would do well, but this is the work of everybody here who give that little bit more every single day.''
