Triple blow for Clyde

Clyde will be without three players for the visit of Falkirk in the Ramsdens Cup.

Defenders Gavin Brown (groin) and Brian McQueen (knee) and winger Sean Fitzharris, who did not feature in any pre-season games due to a hamstring injury, will miss the first round tie.

Manager Jim Duffy will promote youth-team players Fraser McGhee, Scott Ferguson and Paul Orrick to the first-team squad as cover.

Duffy said: ``We have done okay in our pre-season but of course the serious stuff starts now.

``Falkirk always like to pass the ball about and we have to ensure that we do not let them settle into any kind of rhythm.``

Falkirk also have an absentee in defence with Jonny Flynn nursing an ankle injury.

Striker Andrew Barrowman, who played for Dunfermline and Dundee last season, linked up with the Bairns for training on Thursday and he could feature as a trialist while former Arsenal and Inverness Caledonian striker Phillip Roberts may also play.

Technical director Alex Smith is looking forward to Falkirk getting their season started.

He said: ``We have a young squad again but they have looked okay in our pre-season games. Clyde will make it competitive for us so our youngsters have to put in a strong performance.``
