Millar misses Montrose meeting

Elgin striker Paul Millar will miss out against Third Division rivals Montrose in the Ramsdens Cup at Borough Briggs due to a knee injury.

The striker is joined on the sidelines by Darryl McHardy, who has a foot problem.

Manager Ross Jack includes summer signings Raymond Jellema, Sam Urquhart, Ali McKenzie and Shane Sutherland against the Gable Endies, with Jack also considering bringing in a trialist to play in defence.

Jack said: "Both teams will want to win this one and take a boost ahead of meeting each other in the league this season.

"We have looked good in pre-season but we need to show that in a different environment now."

Montrose are hoping that international clearance will come through from Australia in time to allow new striker Lewis Bonar to make his debut.

Gable Endies boss Stuart Garden has added former Dundee United youngster Craig Bell to his squad and he will head north, however Stephen McNally is ruled out with a back injury.

Garden said: "This will be a tight game between two sides that know each other well from being in the Third Division.

"It may take something a bit different to win through and Lewis is the type of player who can provide that."
