Lille v St Etienne: Preview

St Etienne will aim to keep up their 100% record when they travel to Lille for Sunday's Ligue 1 clash.

Two wins from two games mean Les Verts are one of only three clubs with maximum points along with Lyon and Marseille, while Monaco are top with seven points having played a game more.

St Etienne did suffer defeat in midweek when they went down 4-3 to Danish side Esbjerg in the first leg of their Europa League play-off - the first time they have conceded goals in a competitive fixture this season.

Christophe Galtier's side do not have history on their side having not won at Lille for 20 years, but captain Loic Perrin is upbeat.

He said on www.ligue1.com: ``We're on the right road after some very difficult times. We've realised that we're capable of things operating within our means.

``All the players who have joined in the last two or three years know Ligue 1 really well and their attitude corresponds well with that of Les Verts. This summer's spending proves we're ambitious.''

Lille have three points from two games after an opening-day victory over Lorient was followed by defeat against Reims, for which goalkeeper Victor Enyeama took responsibility.

The Nigeria international, who has returned to the club after spending last season on loan at Maccabi Tel Aviv, joked he had watched Reims' two goals ``more than a million times''.

He said on www.losc.fr: ``I do not blame anyone but me, and I blamed myself a lot after the game. But nobody is infallible and even (Cristiano) Ronaldo must work to advance again and again. Why not me?''
