Evian defender Aldo Angoula is happy to admit that his side are underdogs when they face Nantes on Saturday.
Since earning promotion Nantes have made themselves at home in Ligue 1 and lie sixth after winning half of their eight matches to date.
They have recorded back-to-back victories in the last week, beating Rennes 3-1 away from home after seeing off Nice 2-0.
And Angoula feels it is important to treat them as a form team rather than as top-flight newcomers.
``Nantes is one of the form teams in the league. We are hearing a lot about them right now,'' he said.
``Promoted teams can often have a good first season. Generally, they remain propelled by the momentum of their rise.
``Newly promoted or not, for me Nantes are the favourites because they are in form right now.
``We can not approach the game by saying that we are playing a promoted team, because the league table says they are ahead of us.''
Nantes boss Michel der Zakarian has been busy trying to keep his team's efforts in perspective.
He is eager to ensure his side do not see their impressive start as the highlight of their season and believes their form will only continue if they remain focused.
``We must continue to do what we have done recently but we must also keep our feet on the ground,'' he said.
``That is why I am very demanding with my players, it's my job. It must continue and not just be a flash in the pan.
``In the past the players have been criticised enough, so when they are deserving of it they must also be praised.
``But we must stay grounded and continue to remain efficient. That's the most important thing.
``On Saturday they will need to do that in order to achieve our three (consecutive wins).''
