Bastia v Evian Thonon Gaillard: Preview

Bastia goalkeeper Mickael Landreau is keeping his focus on Evian as he prepares to make Ligue 1 history on Sunday.

Assuming he plays, the former France international will equal former Monaco keeper Jean-Luc Ettori's Ligue 1 record of 602 appearances in the French top flight.

And he told his club's official website: ``It means a lot to me. I think it will come to me later, what it represents.

``I have tried to continue as normal and prepare as best I can because the games are still very important.

``When you are a goalkeeper you have to push yourself all the time. You have such responsibility on your shoulders that you don't have time to stop and savour it.

``In the league, for a goalkeeper, you start from zero every time with everything to prove.''

Bastia go into the game 10th in the table and only five points outside the European places, a position based largely on a formidable home record consisting of five wins and a goalless draw with Marseille.

Evian coach Pascal Dupraz said: ``We know it will be difficult, Bastia are dominant at home. They are a quality team, supported by a fervent crowd.

``But we want to show we have qualities, the last away game at Monaco showed that. We must believe in our chances.''

Dupraz's side are languishing just three places above the relegation zone and he added: ``We have to pick up points. From now to the (winter) break, we need to reach a points total which allows us to move forward in a better situation.

``Every time we have had the chance to give ourselves some breathing space in the standings, we have missed the chance.

``It seems like our team need to be under pressure to perform at their best.

``Maybe there is an idea to explore: every time we get points, we maybe need to put a false league table up at the training ground which shows us in the relegation zone.''

Dupraz will be without the suspended Fabrice Ehret as well as injured quintet Cedric Barbosa, Kevin Berigaud, Facundo Bertoglio, Maxime Blanc and Nicolas Benezet.
