Guingamp v Bordeaux: Preview

Bordeaux coach Francis Gillot is convinced his side have a brighter future ahead as they prepare for Wednesday night's Ligue 1 trip to Guingamp.

Following the disappointment of exiting the Europa League, Bordeaux ended a run of four games without a win with a comprehensive 4-0 win over Ajaccio on Sunday.

And Gillot admits it is crucial his side claim a win would move them above their newly-promoted rivals, who currently sit one point and two places clear of them in seventh place.

Gillot said: ``We are slowly getting back to our good form. We are returning gradually and the worst thing would be to stop this momentum with defeat to Guingamp.

``Guingamp have shown the desire to stay in Ligue 1. They are unsung players but they play at a very good level and with a lot of effort.''

Bordeaux are without Abdou Traore who is expected to be ruled out until Christmas with a hip injury, while Cheikh Diabate is a doubt after failing to train on Monday due to illness.

Guingamp ended a run of three games without a win when they beat Nantes 1-0 on Saturday, a result their coach Jocelyn Gourvennec believes underlines his side's ability to stay away from the relegation zone.

Gourvennec said: ``We are now 12 points clear of the relegation zone and that is not something to fear, it is a position that should give us confidence.

``We made a good start to the season and we must continue and consolidate our position, as well as staying in contact with the bigger teams above us.''
