Captain sidelined for Elgin

Elgin City will be without skipper David Niven (knee) and winger Lewis Halford (calf) as they look to knock visitors East Fife out of the Scottish Cup .

Veteran striker Dennis Wyness is a doubt with a knee injury with Borough Briggs manager Ross Jack hoping that home advantage will help his side's chances of creating an upset.

Jack said: ``Scottish Cup ties are always a bit special at our place and hopefully the East Fife game will be the same. They have played well in their last couple of games but form can go right out of the window on these occasions.

``Having them here increases our chances of winning but we know that we need to play well.''

East Fife will be able to field on-loan Hibs pair of goalkeeper Callum Antell and defender Jordan Foster at Borough Briggs, however no permission has been received for Dunfermline's Paul Willis.

The Fifers have also asked to play Livingston's Bobby Barr, however the West Lothian club have still to give the temporary management team of Bob Malcolm and Brian McNaughton a decision.

Defender Darren McCormack looks set to miss out after picking up a knock in last Sunday's 1-0 defeat against Queen of the South.

``We will have to make a few changes but whatever side we are sending out will be going out to win the tie,'' Malcolm said.

``We have trained hard this week and are determined to make the long trip to Elgin worthwhile.``
