Brazil v China: Preview

A quick start is imperative if Brazil are to make short work of China, according to coach Mano Menezes.

The five-time World Cup-winners ought to be too strong for the Asian side in tomorrow's friendly but Menezes believes it could become a tricky assignment if they cannot conjure up an early goal.

China held world and European champions Spain for 84 minutes in June before David Silva grabbed a late winner, and Menezes is hoping to avoid a similar scenario in Recife.

Menezes told reporters: ``We attended the match between China and Spain recently. Spain are a football-playing machine and only scored in the 84th minute even playing at home.

``All the teams have problems when playing teams with good defence.

``If we take too much time to score, we'll have difficulties too. However, when our fans support us and push us forward, and show some patience, they help us.''

Brazil were far from their best in defeating South Africa 1-0 in Sao Paulo last week but Menezes is not planning major changes to his line-up.

``Some players are more tired than others, but I am thinking of a similar starting 11,'' he said.

``I will not change a lot from one game to another.''

Menezes repeated his call for the home fans to get behind his side after they were jeered for their lacklustre display against Bafana Bafana.

Star striker Neymar was singled out for special treatment by the crowd at the Morumbi Stadium and was jeered when taken off late in the second half.

Menezes said: ``Neymar is one of the best, if not the best, player in Brazil and we can't have him treated like that.

``I thought he was very tired, probably because he has played a lot of games recently. A player isn't a machine. They need time to recover.''

Striker Hulk, who moved from Porto to Zenit St Petersburg last week, is also hoping for unequivocal support from the Brazil fans.

``To play in our country and be jeered is quite sad,'' he said.

``We must score the first goal as quickly as possible in order to have better memories from Recife than from Sao Paulo.''
