Cagliari v Parma: Preview

Parma coach Roberto Donadoni insists the season is not over for his mid-table team ahead of tomorrow night's Serie A trip to Cagliari.

The Gialloblu climbed to 10th in the standings on Sunday with a 2-0 win over Atalanta, joining tomorrow's opponents on 43 points.

They travel to Trieste having therefore achieved their goal of avoiding relegation but, with three games left, Donadoni does not want the campaign to just peter out.

``We have never concerned ourselves with what has been happening behind us, but with the possibility of climbing up the places in front of us,'' he said to Rai 2 television.

``I have to say compliments to my lads for having reached this vitally important goal.''

Having reached their objective, Donadoni can be sure of sitting on the Parma bench again next season.

``We will certainly be starting next season with Donadoni,'' club president Tommaso Ghirardi said.

``I speak with him every day and am certain he will be staying here. I'm serene about this.

``And next year will be Parma's centenary and we want to do even better than this year.''

Cagliari are also starting to think ahead to next term and they hope to have their Stadio Is Arenas fully open for use after spending much of this campaign on the other side of the country in Trieste.

All works have been done and they are now awaiting the all-clear from the city council.

They have until mid-June to inform the Italian Football League of their intended home venue for matches next season which, like Parma, will host top-flight football after they reached 43 points with a 1-1 draw against Chievo on Saturday.
