AS Nancy Lorraine v AC Ajaccio: Preview
Andre Luiz believes Nancy are ``obliged'' to win tomorrow's Ligue 1 encounter as they bid to arrest an alarming run of form that has left them cut adrift at the bottom of the standings.
The Lorraine-based club have not tasted victory since the opening day of the season, slumping to three draws and nine defeats in 12 games since to slip six points from safety.
A home encounter with mid-table Ajaccio this weekend represents a good chance for Jean Fernandez's men to finally stop the rot, and Nancy captain Luiz is adamant they must seize their opportunity.
``It's been several weeks now that we have been talking about big games we have to win, but against Ajaccio, we are obliged to win,'' Luiz said on asnl.net.
``This is our last chance.
``Even if we cannot do it by playing well, we can win by playing badly provided we display a lot of character.''
Nancy's hopes have been hit by the loss of Yohan Mollo to a knee injury, but Fernandez at least knows that he will have an easy team talk come kick-off.
``I do not need to tell the players,'' he said. ``They are aware of the sorry situation.''
Ajaccio are themselves eager to improve on their run of just one win in six, and to bounce back after a disappointing home defeat to lowly Sochaux last time out.
``From our side, we have a little pressure on us after the last game,'' Ajaccio striker Eduardo told club website ac-ajaccio.com.
``Nancy need points and will do everything to fight despite their position.
``It will be hard and we will have to show a lot of commitment.''
