Nice v Paris Saint-Germain : Preview

Paris St Germain boss Carlo Ancelotti has put his side's mid-week elimination in the Coupe de la Ligue behind him.

The Parisians were eliminated on penalties by St Etienne, who advanced to the semi-finals, after both sides drew a blank in 120 minutes at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard on Tuesday.

Yet Ancelotti has not remained downbeat for long and preferred to focus on the positives ahead of his team's return to Ligue 1 action against Nice tomorrow.

``It is forgotten as the team performed well. This gives us confidence because we played a good match. I'd like to see the same game this Saturday against Nice,'' the Italian told the club website.

``It is not easy to recover, but there were no physical problems, the players are in good condition. We can play with intensity. There will be some changes in the team, but not many. I will use fresh players.''

PSG got back to winning ways in the league with a 4-0 trouncing of Troyes last week after successive losses at the Parc des Princes to St Etienne and Rennes.

Those two defeats, which sandwiched a draw at Montpellier, ensured the big-spenders lost their place at the league summit, with Lyon now two points clear at the top of the standings.

And Ancelotti, who confirmed he would be without striker Kevin Gameiro and midfielder Thiago Motta tomorrow due to injury, hinted Les Gones could be PSG's biggest obstacle to the title.

``Lyon are a young team that have experience, quality,'' he added. ``Unlike Marseille, who do not have not many options, Lyon have more players and can handle the number of games.''

Mid-table Nice were also knocked out of the cup this week following a 3-2 defeat at Montpellier, but have beaten Lyon and held Marseille to a 2-2 draw at the Stade Velodrome in the last month.

Manager Claude Puel has asked his team to raise their level once more.

``Three points are at stake,'' he said. ``This is an opportunity to gauge where we are against a great team like we did against Lyon, Lille, St Etienne, Toulouse and Marseille, which were very good opponents.

``Again, it will validate what we are trying to implement, raising our level of play again.''
