Lyon v Lorient: Preview

Coach Remi Garde is optimistic Lyon's cruel European exit will not have a negative impact on their campaign to win the Ligue 1 title.

Lyon looked to be going through to the last 16 of the Europa League when they led Tottenham on away goals heading into the 90th minute of Thursday's second leg at Stade Gerland but Mousa Dembele won the tie for the English side with a long-range strike.

Garde said after the match: ``I love it when my team gives everything. We were beaten by a team at least as strong as us and the current Lyon players do not have the same European experience as the Tottenham players. But we were close to qualification.

``We must turn the page. This is football. It is a constant questioning. We will not get up every morning for a week being marked psychologically. Now we have the championship left.''

Lyon head into tomorrow's home match with Lorient three points behind leaders Paris St Germain, who take on Marseille in Le Classique later in the day.

Garde's side need to improve their home form having not won at the Stade de Gerland in 2013, and the manager is optimistic his players will put on a good display.

He said: ``We must regain the confidence and enthusiasm of the first part of the season. Sunday, we can find what was missing.''

Lorient head to Lyon in good form having lost only two of their last 11 league matches and with a place in Europe next season very much in their sights.

Midfielder Enzo Reale is especially motivated to do well tomorrow having joined Lorient from Lyon last summer.

He said on ``This is a special game for me because I never played for Lyon at the Stade de Gerland. It will be the first time that I will have played against them but all that matters is taking a result back to Lorient.

``We have a lot less to lose than Lyon. They have played well against Bordeaux and Tottenham but we are confident and want to show that we can compete against the top teams in Ligue 1.''
