Sochaux v Lorient: Preview

Lorient coach Christian Gourcuff has demanded his side retain their focus when they travel to face a Sochaux side battling to avoid relegation on Saturday.

Lorient have little left to play for in Ligue 1 as they sit seventh in the table with safety secured but little hope of launching a late fight for a European place.

However, they do have the semi-finals of the Coupe de France to look forward to, and they will travel to face Evian on Wednesday in their bid to secure a first major honour since winning the same competition 11 years ago.

But Gourcuff wants his players to show their professionalism by approaching this weekend's fixture in the correct manner.

He told the club's official website: ``The danger is to think about the match on Wednesday before playing this Saturday.

``You have to take your games one at a time. We still have goals I want us to achieve in the league.

``We also know Sochaux play are a good side who are pleasing to watch and they have huge motivation for these games. They are motivating games.

``Sochaux are ready to play a really good game, but the best way for us to prepare for the cup game is to put in a good performance in the league.

``Our goal is to retain our seventh place and all our remaining games are equally as important.''

Sochaux, meanwhile, are in the relegation zone on goal difference after a remarkable display at European hopefuls Lille last time out.

The hosts had looked to be cruising after opening up a three-goal lead, but the visitors struck three times in eight minutes to secure a share of the spoils.

Eric Hely's team will have midfielder Ryad Boudebouz available, but he will miss next weekend's fixture against Brest after his booking at Lille earned him a one-match suspension.

Hely will also hope midfielder Vincent Nogueira continues his fine form. The Frenchman impressed in the draw with Bordeaux, and added two goals and an assist to his name against Lille.
