93'
93'
The free kick hits the wall and the game is over. Both teams exit at the earliest possible stage.
93'
FULL TIME France and South Africa are eliminated.
93'
Free kick South Africa, one more chance...
92'
Nearly for Tshabalala! The man who kicked off the scoring in the tournament nearly nets again for South Africa. Pienaar finds him all alone in the area. He blasts the ball straight at Lloris, who has recovered well from his early mistake.
92'
ESPN Stats & Info: France have become the first team at the 2010 World Cup to score while a man down. So at least they have that.
91'
Modise hits a powerful effort from the corner of the box, it grazes the side netting as it flies wide.
90'
South Africa have three minutes of their World Cup left. Can they go out with a banf?
90'
3 MINUTES ADDED TIME
88'
Both teams seem to be resigned to their fate now. Malouda's goal has deflated the whole stadium.
86'
Mphela shows great enthusiasm to dispossess Sagna and is unfortunate to see the ball roll out of play.
85'
Pienaar is looking to avoid a booking for a dangerous lunge on Ribery. He should've been carded there.
84'
One thing to note, Thierry Henry is currently sporting the captain's armband for France.
82'
Tshabalala breaks and feeds the ball to Pienaar. His ball finds Nomvethe at the far post, who can't decide whether to bring the ball down or shoot. In the end he does neither and the ball is cleared.
81'
80'
ESPN Stats & Info: That was Malouda's first goal for France in nearly four years - the last one was assisted by Ribery as well.
80'
Ten minutes to go, for South Africa, it could be their last ten minutes of their own World Cup. What have they got left?
79'
South Africa seem to have run out of ideas. Tshabalala has a pop from distance. Not a bad effort, but never troubling Lloris.
79'
From Jon Carter in the Soccernet office: The man I feel sorry for is Laurent Blanc, what a job he has got on his hands after the World Cup!
77'
76'
Ribery sends in a deep free kick. The linesman's flag is raised instantly and South Africa have the ball.
75'
Nomvethe slaloms between the French defence, but the ball runs through to Lloris. Great endeavour from the substitute.
74'
South Africa seem to be losing belief here. France are keeping the ball and Bafana Bafana can't get near them at the minute.
72'
ESPN Stats & Info: This is France's first World Cup goal since Zinedine Zidane scored a penalty in the 2006 final.
71'
South Africa appeal for a penalty. Nomvethe takes a tumble under a challenge from Squillaci. Think the referee got that one right.
70'
A chance for South Africa, Pienaar whips in a delicious free kick from the right. It somehow evades everyone and ends up in the hands of Lloris.
68'
67'
66'
Pienaar shoots from distance when Masilela was free on the over lap. Tshabalala is down after a bone-crunching collision with Abou Diaby.
65'
ESPN Stats & Info: South Africa's six shots on target today are double their entire output against Uruguay (three).
63'
More poor officiating. This time the linesman fails to spot William Gallas tapping the ball out for what should've been a corner.
62'
Masilela it put through behind Clichy, the angle is tight and Lloris manages to snuff out the danger.
61'
60'
This time it's not, Tshabalala floats it over everyone and out for a throw.
59'
South Africa force a corner. Their delivery has been good today.
58'
A first shot from Ribery. He takes it past Mokoena like he isn't even there. He cuts inside and fires over when Henry was free to his right. Poor decision.
57'
From the corner, France survive without much cause for concern.
57'
Mphela hits another rocket! His 25-yard effort is turned behind by Lloris.
57'
ESPN Stats & Info: Thierry Henry has drawn level with Fabien Barthez for the most World Cup appearances in French history (17).
56'
Comment from Sharizad Nagoya on Facebook: I think France don't want to win this because of their manager.
54'
Tshabalala tries to take on Sagna and Gallas one too many times and is dispossessed. South Africa look like a team full of belief.
54'
53'
What can Henry do? Surely he'll want to prove a point to Raymond Domenech?
52'
51'
Ngcongca is down and it looks like his game is over. He is receiving treatment off the field and South Africa are down to ten momentaril.
51'
ESPN Stats & Info: If France fail to score, there would be precedent. In their last World Cup following a Final appearance they failed to score a goal (won 1998 Final, scoreless in 2002). They have yet to score in the 2010 World Cup.
50'
Mphela hits the post! What a move from South Africa! Pienaar brings the ball forward and slides it in to Tshabalala. He plays a sublime ball into Mphela who smashes it against the upright. So close to a third!
49'
France free kick, can they get back in the game? Not this time, the ball is headed clear, and from Sagna's ball back in Cisse is caught offside.
48'
A neat turn by Parker from a Tshabalala through ball, however he hits his half volley straight at Lloris.
47'
Can Malouda inspire some sort of fightback in the French? They look completely lost out there.
46'
Can South Africa maintain their momentum from the first half?
45'
45'
KICK OFF France start the second half
45'
ESPN Stats & Info: South Africa won the only World Cup match they have ever led at half time, against Slovenia in 2002.
45'
For South Africa, what a chance. If they give this second half everything they've got, one of the biggest turnarounds in World Cup history could be on.
45'
Everything does seem to be against France today. Gourcuff's red card for a fairly routine aerial challenge on Tshabalala has is one of the more mystifying decisions at this World Cup.
45'
I wonder what Raymond Domenech is looking forward to less, the second half of this game, or arriving back in France after a woeful campaign?
45'
If the permutations are getting a bit much for you then check out Dale Johnson's excellent guide to how each team can qualify in the final round of matches.
45'
48'
HALF TIME An incredible half at the Free State Stadium. South Africa are in with a real chance of progressing after an excellent display.
47'
Mokoena does excellently to stop a ball destined for Cisse in the penalty area. South Africa are excelling.
46'
Franck Ribery gets hold of the ball for the first time in the game. He runs at Pienaar who is forced to bring him down.
45'
3 MINUTES ADDED TIME
44'
Gignac is down holding his face. Masilela's arm brushes the striker's face but it's nothing more. France are in disarray.
44'
ESPN Stats & Info: France have never come back from two goals behind to win or draw at the World Cup.
43'
Goal for Uruguay! South Africa have hope. If Uruguay and South Africa score one more each Bafana Bafana are through!
42'
Mphela is in the mood now! He picks up the ball and fires it goalwards, Lloris gets down well to turn it wide. Corner South Africa.
39'
Great save Josephs! Ribery whips in a deep free kick., Gallas tries to get a touch on it, he fails and Josephs reacts superbly to tip over.
38'
ESPN Stats & Info: This is the seventh-consecutive day at this World Cup a player has been sent off.
37'
Mphela has the ball in the net again, but it won't count, he'd drifted offside. France are on the ropes here.
36'
36'
Tshabalala involved again. He heads over from a deep right-wing cross. One-way traffic at the moment!
35'
34'
South Africa have a spring in their step. Pienaar cushions a lovely ball into the path of Parker who can't control as he arrives at speed.
33'
Tshabalala's effort is decent, but floats harmlessly over Lloris' goal.
32'
A dangerous free kick for South Africa, Diaby hauls down Pienaar. What can they do from this?
29'
France look shell shocked against what is now a revitalised South Africa team. Can South Africa push home their advantage?
28'
ESPN Stats & Info: The last red card for France in a World Cup match was Zinedine Zidane in the 2006 Final. You may have heard about that one.
28'
France's campaign lies in tatters. A man down and a goal down. Can it get any worse for Les Blues?
25'
24'
Mphela leaves Squillaci trailing behind him as he runs at the French goal. He cuts inside Clichy before dragging his shot wide. South Africa have been lifted by the goal.
23'
ESPN Stats & Info: That was the 13th headed goal of the 2010 World Cup.
23'
22'
Nearly, Lloris unconvincing again, and the ball is cleared off the end of Mphela's toe.
22'
Another South Africa corner, can they do it again?
20'
Gignac almost levels straight away. He wriggles free in the South Africa box, but fires over from the corner of the six-yard box.
19'
19'
Diaby is forced to block Pienaar's cross and South Africa have their first corner.
18'
South Africa slowly growing into this one. Some neat passing results in a throw in deep in the France half.
16'
Nearly for France. Diaby injects some energy into the game with a quick burst through the middle. His ball to Cisse is slightly overhit and runs through to the keeper.
14'
South Africa have hardly had a sniff so far. They need to get amongst France if their to stand any chance this afternoon.
13'
Gourcuff's latest ball in is poor again. His corner headed away. This one is yet to get going.
12'
Gourcuff's free kick is headed clear, the ball back in from Sagna is equally well handled.
11'
France have a chance to get the ball in the box from a free kick just inside the South Africa half.
9'
Another half chance for France. The ball is clipped into Cisse, whose header from just inside the box is straight at Josephs.
8'
Aside from all the upheaval around the squad, today is a chance for some of France's fringe players to send a message to Domenech, and maybe Laurent Blanc.
7'
ESPN Stats & Info: France have failed to score in their last three internationals, their worst goal-drought since World Cup 2002.
6'
Diaby plays Cisse in down the right. He gets to the byline and cuts back towards Gignac, who is too slow in arriving in the box.
5'
Both teams here need goals to stand any chance of making it out of the group. Let's hope it leads to an open game.
4'
France have the first corner of the game. It's well defended by South Africa and the ball is cleared.
2'
Gignac should've done better for France. Gourcuff puts him in the clear, but he can only steer his effort straight at the goalkeeper. Poor finish.
1'
France on the front foot early on. Gourcuff plays the ball down the right to Gignac who earns a throw.
KICK OFF France get us under way!
Fantastic scenes in the stadium as the South African national anthem rings around the ground, a show of unity that couldn't be further from recent events in the France camp.
Both teams need a win to stand any chance of going through, a draw in the game between Mexico and Uruguay elminates them both.
ESPN Stats & Info: The last World Cup goal France scored outside of Europe was netted by Manuel Amoros on June 28 1986 against Belgium
For South Africa, Parker comes in to partner Mphela up front and substitute goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs replaces the suspended Khune. Khuboni comes in for Digkacoi, who's also suspended, and Ngcongoa and Sibaya come in for Gaxa and Modise.
For France, their are six changes. Djibril Cisse is in for the absent Anelka and Clichy is in for skipper Patrice Evra. Gourcuff, Squillaci, Gignac and newly-named skipper Alou Diarra are also in. The other men to make way are Abidal, Malouda and Govou, who are dropped, while Jeremy Toulalan is suspended.
The world is waiting to see how France will react to a week of turmoil, while the hosts South Africa need a miracle to make it out of the group. It's sure to be a tense affair in Bloemfontein.
Following the embarassing 3-0 defeat to Uruguay, Bafana Bafana captain Aaron Mokoena has stressed that their is no rift in the South Africa camp.
