  • 95'

Few people would have predicted a Nigeria win at the start of the competition but they've earned their crown. The continent's most populous nation celebrates being its best team once again. Despair for Burkina but what a run they've enjoyed. Another tournament rich with colour and atmosphere - see you again in 2015 in Morocco!

  • 95'

Players sink to their knees as the Nigeria supporters in the stadium erupt with joy. Great scenes and a great victory for a country whose national team was in disarray just a few years back.

  • 95'

Burkina Faso's brave charge couldn't extend to the final and they created very little in the way of chances. Nigeria's third title (1980, 1994, 2013) means only Egypt, Cameroon & Ghana have won more.

  • 95'

In truth, it was fully deserved. Nigeria were on the offensive most of the match and had the quality when it mattered in the final third. For coach Stephen Keshi, he becomes only the second man to have played in, and managed, a winning ANC side.

  • 95'

FULL TIME Nigeria win the African Nations Cup!

  • 94'

Enyeama comes to claim a cross and that must be that!

  • 93'

The free kick is whacked clear over the bar by Dagano. Poor.

  • 92'

Full retreat for Nigeria now and long balls forward Burkina's tactic. Now a card for Brown for handball. Harsh.

  • 91'

    Four minutes added....

  • 90'

A change for Burkina as we enter the final minute - Kone off, Abdou Traore on.

  • 89'

Another change for Nigeria as Joseph Yobo replaces the goalscorer Mba.

  • 88'

A half chance for Burkina Faso as Nakoulma volleys a long ball across goal but he is flagged offside.

  • 87'

And another chance! Brown fails to make contact with a cross from the left as Diakite dived out for it. He should have scored. Nigeria have had so many chances to put the game beyond doubt. Will they pay for it?

  • 86'

Oh dear - that was the chance to wrap the game up. A terrible touch at the back offered Moses the chance to wrap things up but they couldn't apply the finishing touch.

  • 85'

Nigeria closing in on their third ANC title - the first since '94.

  • 84'

Still, never count them out. And remember that last minute equaliser in the group match.

  • 83'

Burkina Faso running out of ideas now. Bance has tried hard but he hasn't looked much of a threat all evening.

  • 82'

Terrible free kick. Brown takes it himself and sends it miles into the stands.

  • 80'

Koulibaly upends Brown. Free kick in a decent spot, outside the area to the right. Moses was screaming for the ball just outside Brown.

  • 78'

Mba tries to recreate his magic from the first half but his radar is off this time round.

  • 77'

Nigeria again sitting a little deeper than 10 minutes ago - they are going to protect what they have from this point on.

  • 76'

Nervous times for both sides now. Less than 15 minutes left.....

  • 75'

A crazy attempt on goal from Oshinawa, as he tries to score from near the corner flag. Madness.

  • 74'

It's warming up now! Nigeria's Musa slips as he was about to stroke home a second and as Burkina break, Enyeama makes a magnificent save from Sanou's shot, that was creeping into the corner.

  • 73'

Important header from Ambrose as Kabore's header was nodded back across goal dangerously.

  • 72'

Decent spell of pressure now though as the minnows win another corner after Kabore's cleared free kick is turned back into the box.

  • 71'

Oshaniwa gets a yellow for hauling back Kabore. Another set piece opportunity for Burkina.

  • 70'

Burkina win a corner but Kabore's delivery is nodded clear at the back post.

  • 68'

Nigeria retreating ever so slightly in the last ten minutes or so. About time for Burkina Faso to advance up the pitch a bit and get more people forward.

  • 67'

Juwon Oshaniwa eventually replaces the injured Echiejile.

  • 66'

Good run again from Ambrose but no final ball at the end of it - his cross is too strong for Musa.

  • 65'

Wildred Sanou is replacing Rouamba as Burkina Faso make their first change.

  • 64'

Things don't look good for Echiejile, who is about to leave on a stretcher. Not sure how he got his knock.

  • 63'

Kone strikes on goal now but drags it well wide of Enyeama's net.

  • 62'

Kabore's ball in is well defended by Ambrose, I think, who nods powerfully away at the near post.

  • 61'

Pitroipa is having more of an influence in this half and he wins a free kick wide left from Onazi.

  • 60'

Obobona stands up well as Nakoulma tries to cross. Nice approach play from Pitroipa before that.

  • 59'

Bance meets the cross from Kabore but his glancing header is right at Enyeama.

  • 58'

Mikel is also booked for arguing with the referee.

  • 57'

Omeruo gets a yellow for chopping down Pitroipa and then gets involved in a shoving match with Nakoulma. All a bit unsavoury.

  • 56'

Musa tries to make an instant impact, having a pop on the half volley from the edge of the box, but he was off balance and his effort flies well wide.

  • 55'

Very unconvincing from Moses as Nigeria broke from the corner. He was one-on-one with Panandetiguiri but didn't try to beat him and has his eventual shot blocked. He had to try and take it on his left and shoot.

  • 54'

NAkoulma does win a free kick this time, off Echiejile. Good chance to get quality ball into the box, but Moses diverts the ball behind for a corner.

  • 53'

Ahmed Musa replaces Uche, who has had a quiet game.

  • 51'

Harsh call on Nakoulma, who looked to have turned Onazi and was away over the half way line, but the replay shows it did brush his hand.

  • 50'

Koffi sticks to his task well when faced with Moses. Nigeria corner.

  • 49'

Echiejile staggers off with a knock after stopping a run from Nakoulma. Doesn't look too serious though and now he's back.

  • 48'

It very nearly was 2-0 then - Brown gets to the byline and shoots from a tight angle and any sort of touch from the diving Diakite would have taken it into the net.

  • 47'

As for Nigeria - how will they approach this half, go for the killer second, or sit deep and play Burkina at their own game?

  • 46'

    Right. here we go again.....

  •

Sunday Mba handed Nigeria a 1-0 lead with a smart finish

  • 45'

HALF TIME Another sight of goal for Mba but his shot skews high and wide. Not of the same quality as his goal, which is the one true quality moment of a half that was otherwise pretty lacklustre. And there is the whistle.

  • 44'

Pitroipa miscontrols the ball and fails to chase after it. Now he is clutching his hamstring.

  • 43'

Pitroipa gets into the box now but Omeruo tackles him cleanly. As Burkina regroup, Pitroipa fires a shot wide from range.

  • 42'

And they create a chance immediately as Nakoulma tries to latch onto Bance's knock down. Trouble was, he was two yards offside.

  • 41'

A goal the game desperately needed - Burkina Faso should be forced out of their shell a little now.

  • 40'

What a good finish too - Moses had a shot blocked and as the ball came to him he dinks it over one defender before firing home with a left foot volley.

  • 40'

GOAL Mba strikes with a beauty!

  • 38'

The altitude must have something to do with how quickly the ball is running as Bance strokes a ball wide for Koulibaly that runs out of play.

  • 37'

A free kick for Burkina Faso but Kone nods wide when he should have gone back across goal into the mix. He was back peddling but should have done better.

  • 35'

Fair to say the game hasn't burst into life yet. Sometime soon would be nice.

  • 33'

Rouamba is carded for a late tackle on Moses. He'd already had a warning for some earlier fouls.

  • 31'

A fantastic run from the back from Ambrose, he opens up the space and Moses is on the move but the ball is over hit and the chance is lost.

  • 30'

Very nearly a good opening for Nigeria as Uche tries to slide in Brown, who again can't make the most of his chance thanks to an errant touch.

  • 29'

Kabore dinks a ball over the top but Enyeama is alive to the danger and comes out to claim.

  • 28'

Bance goes for goal but drags his shot wide of the post. He was trying to cut across the ball. Ronaldo can rest easy I think.

  • 26'

Nakoulma is crowded out as he and Kabore try to link but he wins a free kick 35 yards out. Better from Burkina in the last few moments.

  • 25'

Panandetiguiri tries to get on the end of a long ball but can't prevent a Nigeria goal kick.

  • 24'

That's better as Bance has a go on goal from 25 yards. It is hit powerfully but was always rising over the bar.

  • 23'

A rare break into Nigeria's half for Burkina Faso but they can't keep the ball for more than a few passes going forward.

  • 22'

Echiejile and Moses try to link down the left but Koffi clears.

  • 20'

Pressure mounting on the underdogs here. Nigeria should get the ball wide to Moses as often as possible.

  • 19'

Excellent run from Moses and a good low cross but Diakite grabs the ball at the second attempt.

  • 18'

A terrible decision from Koulibaly as his back heel falls for Brown who then wastes a good chance with a poor ball wide for Moses that goes straight out of play.

  • 17'

Brown can't control a ball into feet from Mikel but it picked up so much pace on this turf it was very tough to take in stride.

  • 16'

Pitropia looks for Bance but a green shirt gets a vital touch to divert it behind for a corner.

  • 15'

Nigeria dominating possession but their opponents are keeping a rigid shape and limiting the space available.

  • 13'

Nasty collision between Onazi and Nakoulma. The Burkina player had laid the ball off and is claiming obstruction. He may have a point. Both are on their feet now.

  • 12'

Ambrose tries to flick the ball into Uche, but the striker was a yard offside.

  • 11'

The pitch isn't ideal, I'll be honest. Might have something to do with the Red Hot Chilli Peppers concert last week don't you think?

  • 10'

From the corner Diakite comes for a ball he didn't need to deal with, drops it and Brown hooks over from eight yards out. He should have scored.

  • 9'

Moses gambles on a long, looping ball to keep it in and race into the box - his cross is blocked behind by Koulibaly.

  • 8'

A good opening that - Ambrose should have done far better. It was a completely free header.

  • 7'

A shocking dive from Brown as Kone went to tackle him - no contact at all - but the referee bought it and from the set piece Ambrose nods over from the penalty spot.

  • 6'

Diakite comes out to punch Moses' corner clear. Good, decisive goalkeeping, though if I'm being picky, he could have caught it.

  • 5'

Kone shanks the ball out for a Nigeria corner after a cross from the left.

  • 4'

Kabore is in the thick of things early on - just how he likes it. Another firm tackle, this time on Brown.

  • 3'

Moses is stopped in his tracks by Kabore and the pattern is set already with Nigeria pressing and Burkina Faso content to counter attack.

  • 2'

An early knock for Mikel after he was tackled by Kabore. He's up and about now.

  • 1'

    KICK OFF

  •

Blatter is accompanied by South African president Jacob Zuma too. The anthems are next.

  •

Here come the teams to a wall of vuvuzela noise at Soccer City. There's not an empty seat in the house and we're all set. Here comes Sepp Blatter to throw a few handshakes around.

  •

The super Eagles had a much smoother ride through the latter stages, beating the Ivory Coast thanks to Sunday Mba's winner. They cruised through their final four clash with Mali, going 3-0 up at half time. They eventually won 4-1.

  •

In the knockout stages though, their paths differed. Burkina Faso needed extra time to get past Togo in the quarters while another 120 minutes were needed as they defeated Ghana on penalties in the semis. Will fatigue be a factor tonight?

  •

The two met in the group stages of course, when a last gasp strike from Alain Troare cancelled out Emenike's opener. After beating Ethiopa, both sides drew with Zambia, Burkina Faso topping the group on goal difference.

  •

It is an undoubted blow for Nigeria to be without Emenike, but his replacement, Ikechukwu Uche is no mug and was his nations top scorer in qualifying.

  •

So, the stage is set in Johannesburg for what should be a fascination final. Burkina Faso have little to lose as everyone expects Nigeria to take their third AFCON title. But as this tournament consistently shows, you underestimate the underdog at your peril.

  •

And Burkina Faso's: Diakite, Kone, P Koulibaly, Panandetiguiri, Koffi, Kone, Rouamba, Pitroipa, Kabore, Nakoulma, Bance.

  •

Right, here is confirmation of Nigeria's starting line-up: Enyeama, Echiejile, Ambrose, Obobona, Omeruo, Brown, Mikel, Onazi, Moses, Uche, Mba.

  •

News filtering through from South Africa suggests Victor Moses will be fit to start for Nigeria in the final but leading scorer Emmanuel Emenike is ruled out through injury.

  •

Keshi, who was part of Nigeria's 1994 ANC winning squad, is warning his players reputations will count for nothing in Sunday's final, while Firdose Moonda has our final preview here.
