Liverpool lose Georginio Wijnaldum to injury for Tottenham clash

Georginio Wijnaldum will miss Liverpool's match with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday through injury.

Wijnaldum, who played 76 minutes of Liverpool's 7-0 win at Maribor in midweek, is not part of the Reds' matchday squad at Wembley and has been ruled out with a "knee problem," the club have said.

In total, Jurgen Klopp has made three changes to Liverpool's side for Sunday afternoon's match.

James Milner starts in central midfield after his impressive display at Maribor in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Meanwhile, Simon Mignolet replaces Loris Karius in goal, while Joe Gomez starts at right-back ahead of Trent Alexander-Arnold.

For Tottenham, Ben Davies is fit enough only for the bench, despite recovering from the illness that ruled him out of Tuesday's 1-1 draw at Real Madrid, so Mauricio Pochettino names both Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier in the XI, with Eric Dier a surprise inclusion among the substitutes.

Central midfielders Mousa Dembele (hip) and Victor Wanyama (knee) remain out but Dele Alli returns from his midweek European suspension and Son Heung-Min starts. Fernando Llorente and Moussa Sissoko, both impressive in Madrid, drop to the bench.

Liverpool XI: Mignolet, Gomez, Lovren, Matip, Moreno, Henderson, Can, Milner, Coutinho, Salah, Firmino.

Tottenham XI: Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Sanchez, Vertonghen, Aurier, Winks, Dele, Eriksen, Son, Kane.
