Tottenham Hotspur left-back Danny Rose sidelined after knee surgery

Danny Rose will miss Tottenham Hotspur's final two games of the season after undergoing exploratory surgery on his left knee on Tuesday, the club have confirmed.

Left-back Rose has not featured since limping off in the goalless draw at Sunderland at the end of January and will now miss the matches against Leicester and Hull as well as a postseason friendly in Hong Kong later this month.

The England international, 26, will sit out the World Cup qualifier in Scotland on June 10 and the friendly in France three days later.

He faces a race to be fit for Spurs' preseason trip the US, which begins with a game against Paris Saint-Germain on July 22.

Rose had recently returned to full training but Spurs said the problem had persisted and added that he would be back for next season.

Speaking before Tottenham's 2-1 win against Manchester United in the last-ever game at White Hart Lane on Sunday, Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino said: "We need to see and assess him.

"Most important now is that he feels good, recovers fitness in his knee and then important he can be involved again with the team."
