Christian Eriksen admits Tottenham Hotspur "were not good enough" against Gent as they crashed out of the Europa League with a 2-2 draw at Wembley on Thursday. Trailing 1-0 from the first leg in Belgium, Spurs enjoyed the perfect start at Wembley when Christian Eriksen opened the scoring, only for a Harry Kane own goal to pull the visitors level. Victor Wanyama's second-half strike -- after Dele Alli had been sent off -- provided hope but it was all for nothing as substitute Jeremy Perbet's late goal ensured Gent secured a 3-2 aggregate victory to reach the round of 16. "We are very disappointed with what we did today and over two games against Gent," Eriksen told BT Sport. "They did not have a shot in the first half but still got a goal. We gave it away after getting in front. We weren't good enough in our finishing or our final pass. "Overall, we did what we could. The ref was not on our side either. Even with 10 men we had chances to get the winner. We can blame the ref but we had our chances and we were not good enough." Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino said he was proud of his players despite the loss. "It was very disappointing,'' he said. "I think once again we were excited to play today in front of our fans and we started the game very well and scored a goal. The tie was open. "But we conceded a goal with their one action of the first half, an own goal, and then it was more complicated with the sending off of Dele Alli. "In the second half we played with 10. We were very brave, we created chances and scored the second goal to make it 2-1. Then we need one more to go to the next round, but we conceded at the end. Still, I feel proud because in the second half we showed great energy.''
