Tottenham's Hugo Lloris has no regrets over decisions vs. Man City

Hugo Lloris has told RMC that he would "react in the same way" to the situations that saw him concede in Tottenham Hotspur's 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Saturday.

Lloris has been a consistent performer for Spurs since signing for the club from Lyon in 2012, but the France international made two costly errors at the Etihad Stadium.

First, Lloris attempted to head clear a City through ball only to see his effort strike Leroy Sane and allow the Germany international to roll home on 49 minutes.

Five minutes later, Lloris spilled a cross at the feet of Kevin De Bruyne, who prodded the ball into the net, before strikes from Dele Alli and Son Heung-Min salvaged a point for Mauricio Pochettino's men.

Lloris, who made a number of saves in the opening period, said: "Unfortunately, it happens. Luckily it didn't have a big influence on the result. In the end, 2-2 is a good point, particularly in light of our first half, during which we suffered a lot and City were much better than us.

"My teammates saved me this time. It's all part of the game. Personally, these things happen. You have to accept that, continue working and try to make a difference for the team."

When asked whether he had tried too hard to find a teammate with the clearing header that gifted Sane the opening goal, Lloris replied: "That's exactly right. If tomorrow I had the same situation, I would react in the same way.

"For the first goal, I tried to be as precise as possible and unfortunately, it was blocked. We try to play as high up the pitch as possible. I have to cover behind my defenders and that requires risk taking.

"The most important thing is that I had the same situation again just after, the ball was on the ground in front of [Sergio] Aguero, 30 metres from my goal and I intercepted.

"You make errors, but the most important thing is how you react and to stay focussed on the match. In football, nothing can be taken for granted, everything can change very quickly, all the more in the Premier League and we proved that against Manchester City."

Lloris went on to praise Alli, who has become a first-team star and England regular after signing from MK Dons in 2015.

The 20-year-old's goal against City was his 11th top-flight strike this term, already one more than he achieved in the whole of last campaign.

"He has something special," the former Nice keeper said. "If he keeps the same attitude as he has now, the desire to always push his limits, to improve, he'll have a really great career."

Lloris followed Alli's lead in December by signing a contract extension at Spurs, tying the 29-year-old to the North London outfit until 2022.

"I'm where I feel the best. I believe in the club's project. I believe in my coach," Lloris said. "On a daily basis, I have a very good relationship with my goalkeeping coach in both terms of work and personally.

"It's also a way of showing my team-mates I'm totally committed, that I believe in my team. I feel the club is moving forward. It's not the same club I signed for four-and-a-half years ago. There's a coach, an ambitious coach, who has brought in his way of playing, his methods of working. We enjoy things every day and that's the most important thing."
