Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino pays tribute to amputee footballer

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has written to a footballer who had to have his legs amputated following a car crash and described him as "an inspiration."

Shaun Whiter, 27, was due to begin training with Newmarket Town FC when he had both legs crushed by a car as he was helping a friend change a flat tyre in July.

The Tottenham fan is still in hospital, but has vowed to marry fiancee Charlotte Way next July and said he will "walk down the aisle" -- with Spurs boss Pochettino praising his determination and courage in a letter.

Pochettino wrote: "Your determination and strength is an inspiration to others... There is no doubt that with your remarkable spirit and resolution, you will be walking down the aisle."

Whiter replied on Facebook, thanking Pochettino for "taking the time and making this letter a whole lot more personal to me and my story."
