Real Sociedad maintain perfect start as Bilbao climb to fourth with win

Real Sociedad made it three wins from their opening three La Liga games as they beat Deportivo La Coruna 4-2 at the Riazor.

The visitors began the match in stunning fashion, going 2-0 up through goals from Juanmi and Asier Illarramendi in the third and fourth minutes.

Depor pulled level following efforts from Adrian in the 27th minute and Florin Andone in the 50th, but Eusebio Sacristan's men produced another quickfire double in the closing stages, with substitute Diego Llorente netting in the 83rd minute and Illarramendi adding another three minutes later.

Goals from Iker Muniain and Aritz Aduriz eased Athletic Bilbao into the top four with a 2-0 home win over Girona.

Muniain broke the deadlock with 25 minutes gone when he fired into the top corner from Inaki Williams' cross, but the visitors responded and keeper Iago Herrerin saved from Pedro Alcala, Aday Benitez and Alex Granell.

However, Aduriz extended his side's lead with 53 minutes gone with Williams once again the provider and although Benitez and Cristhian Stuani might have reduced the deficit, Athletic finished strongly to claim the win.

A first-half goal from Maxi Gomes was enough to give Celta Vigo a 1-0 home win over Alaves in a game between two sides searching for their first league victory of the season.

The key moment arrived after 33 minutes when Gomez was in the right place to head home from close range following a cross by Pione Sisto.

They could have doubled that advantage before the break as Jozabed Sanchez headed narrowly wide, but although they had to withstand more pressure after the break Alaves struggled to create many clear chances for a leveller.

Carlos Bacca set Villarreal on their way to a first win of the campaign as they came from behind to beat Real Betis 3-1 at the Estadio de la Ceramica.

It took Real just 11 minutes to get their noses in front when Sergio Leon headed Joaquin's cross past keeper Mariano Barbosa.

But the home side were level 13 minutes before the break thanks to Bacca's strike following an error by keeper Antonio Adan, and came desperately close to taking the lead when midfielder Rodrigo's long-range effort came back off the post.

They did go ahead 16 minutes into the second half when Samu Castillejo curled a shot expertly around Adan, and victory was sealed by an equally emphatic finish from Enes Unal 13 minutes from time.
