Radja Nainggolan says he stayed with Roma to win a trophy despite being linked with Chelsea.
Belgium midfielder Nainggolan, 29, showed his quality in Roma's 3-3 draw at Chelsea on Wednesday and -- despite appearing to hint he was considering an exit during the summer -- he said he had never wanted to leave the Giallorossi.
"I've always been convinced of what I want, in that winning something at Roma would be unforgettable," the former Piacenza and Cagliari man told Mediaset. "I stayed because I'm happy here -- I live a good life here. I received a lot from this club and I want to give something back. I've not changed clubs often in my life, so I don't feel the need to move often."
Wednesday's draw extended Roma's unbeaten record in Europe this season and kept them on course for a place in the knockout stages of the Champions League, with the Italian side second in Group B, three points clear of Atletico Madrid.
The performance at Chelsea represented a strong response after Roma's 1-0 defeat to Napoli at the weekend, which saw them lose further ground at the top of Serie A.
"I think we played a great game, particularly when you think that at 3-2, it feels strange that we conceded an equaliser for 3-3," he said. "It's a positive result and it's good for morale, so we've got to carry on this way.
"We lost to Napoli, even though we could have drawn it. I think we've continued where we left off in that game in the first half, trying to push high up the field, and then we knew that a defeat gives you that bit of anger and we gave the maximum today, and you could see it. I hope we can now continue this way, because we're on the right path."
Roma's hero on the night was Edin Dzeko, who produced a stunning volley for the first of his two goals.
"It's probably one of the best [goals I've scored]," he told UEFA.com. "I got it right with my left foot but the ball from [Federico] Fazio was also great. It was the first ball behind the defenders like this and I'm happy.
"Every point is important, especially when you come here to Chelsea's stadium and play football like this. At the end we could have won the game, but we're happy with the point and we have to continue playing like this. The next game is more important."
Roma sporting director Monchi, meanwhile, said the performance at Chelsea showed the team is on the right path.
He told Onda Cero radio: "We are building a new project, with a new group, a new coach. We could have beaten Chelsea but this result nevertheless gives us confidence in our new project continue to grow. We are getting closer to where we want this team to be at.
"We are happy with where we are at, unbeaten and in a good position in the group, but there is still a lot of work to be done and the most challenging is yet to come.
"We will now take on Chelsea at home on Oct. 31 and we have to play at Atletico -- we need to be ready."
