Julian Green faces an uncertain future with German club Stuttgart, a source close to the player confirmed, following a report that said the U.S. international is for sale. After Green was left out of Stuttgart's 18-man squad for last weekend's Bundesliga opener against Hertha Berlin, Stuttgarter-Zeitung reported that Green was among those who the club would try to move on. A spokesperson for Green's agency, acta7, said via email that the player has two more years to run on his contract, and that "his goal is to get playing time. That`s his focus at the moment and he expects to get his chance." The news comes as a tough blow for Green, 22, who joined up with Stuttgart in January after failing to find playing time at Bayern Munich. Green went on to make 10 league appearances, seven of them starts, while scoring one goal as Stuttgart won promotion as champions of the German second division. Earlier this month, Michael Reschke replaced Jan Schindelmeiser as Stuttgart's sporting director. Given that Reschke had previously been Bayern Munich's technical director, he is no doubt familiar with Green's strengths and weaknesses. But Reschke appears to be looking elsewhere in terms of building Stuttgart's attack. This club made a number of attack-minded moves earlier in the summer, including the signings of Juventus midfielder Anastasio Donis and Chadrac Akolo, formerly of Sion, as well as extending the loan of Arsenal midfielder Takuma Asano.
