Chelsea's Diego Costa: I will travel to Spain with future 'already defined'

Chelsea striker Diego Costa has said he plans to travel to Spain to resolve his future as he looks to return to his former club Atletico Madrid.

Costa, Chelsea's top scorer last season, has been in Brazil since claiming in June that coach Antonio Conte had texted him to tell him he was no longer part of his plans.

Earlier this week, the Spain international voiced disappointment at his treatment by Chelsea, who have reportedly fined him over his refusal to return to training.

"My future is already defined," he told Globoesporte. "I have to return to Atletico Madrid next season. There's a problem because Chelsea don't want to set me free.

"But I think the situation will soon be resolved now that I will return to Spain."

Costa's bother Jair said earlier this summer that the 28-year-old had "plenty of offers on the table."

Atletico cannot register new players until January because of a FIFA transfer ban and reports in Spain have claimed Costa could play for another La Liga club on loan before joining them.

But the striker's wages have reportedly cooled the interest of clubs such as Deportivo La Coruna.
