Arsenal could sell Wellington Silva to Werder Bremen after a deal with Bordeaux fell through, sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.
Arsenal have a buy-back clause of £1.5 million for Silva after selling him to Fluminense last summer and are now ready to trigger that option and sell him on to Bundesliga side Bremen.
Arsene Wenger's side had planned to do the same earlier this month when Bordeaux tried to sign the Brazilian only for the deal to collapse over concerns over his fitness.
However, Fluminense have since carried out their own medical examinations on the winger and confirmed the injury is not serious.
A club statement read: "The transfer of midfielder Wellington Silva from Fluminense to Bordeaux in France did not materialise because of a medical issue, as Alexandre Soares, the athlete's representative, said.
"During the medical examinations a small inflammation was detected in the pubis. It is not serious and the athlete is able to act, but the French club chose not to continue with the hiring."
Bremen are ready to move for Silva now the concerns over his fitness have been allayed.
Silva signed for Arsenal in January 2010 from Fluminense, but failed to make a single first-team appearance after issues surrounding a work permit, and he was repeatedly shipped off on loan.
The former Brazil youth international failed to obtain a work permit before 2015, having spells in Spain with Levante, Alcoyana, Ponferradina, Murcia and Almeria, before spending the 2015-16 campaign with Bolton Wanderers in the Championship.
The 24-year-old has got his career back on track at Fluminense, but could now be set for a return to Europe with Bremen, with Arsenal in line to make a profit on his buy-back clause.
