Pique says Neymar 'doesn't know what to do' amid Paris Saint-Germain links

Gerard Pique has said that he and his Barcelona teammates all want Neymar to stay at the club, while adding that they are helping the Brazilian because he "doesn't know what to do" as uncertainty around his future continues to dominate headlines.

Neymar, 25, is reportedly on the verge of a move to join Paris Saint-Germain, with the Ligue 1 club ready to pay his €220 million release clause and pay him a salary of €30m per season after taxes.

So far Neymar, who is in Miami ahead of his team's Clasico match with Real Madrid on Saturday, has been quiet on the matter, and Pique says that's in part because he hasn't made up his mind.

"Neymar and I we are very close and I want him to stay and I know the situation. Right now he doesn't know what to do and we are trying to help him, the ones [on the team] that are more close to him to take the right decision."

On Sunday, Pique suggested he had an inside track on what his teammate was thinking when he tweeted "He stays" in Spanish along with a picture of himself and Neymar.

But Neymar's camp said they had no idea what he was referring too and Pique later said it was only his "intuition" that he would remain at Barcelona and not based on any conversations between the two.

"We will see. The Tweet was about pushing him to stay. I want him to stay and we will see what happens."

"It depends on what he wants. He can be in all the clubs in all the world. He can be in Paris, Barcelona, Chelsea or City. All the clubs will want him. It's about your priorities. What do you want? Do you want more money? Do you want to win titles?

"It's happening here and it's happening in the NBA as well. There are some players that are not earning all the money that they deserve to win titles. So sometimes you have to take decisions in life and it's all about priorities."

Former club legend and captain Carles Puyol also weighed in on the debate over whether or not Neymar would remain with the club and said it was up to the player to explain what he intends to do.

Puyol told Marca: "I do not know what's going to happen. He's the one who has to talk and explain what he wants to do, because I cannot control him.

"The decision should be taken by him. I am not responsible for the club so I do not know if they have decided something.

"I do not know if he has dreams of leaving, but it's harder for a player to stay with the same team for their whole career. Football is changing but there are still cases: [Lionel] Messi, [Sergio] Busquets, [Andres] Iniesta. I think he has love for the shirt but then there are other factors."
