Shanghai SIPG technical director Mads Davidsen says Bayern Munich veterans Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery are too old for the Chinese Super League.
Davidsen, 34, originally worked as Sven Goran Eriksson's assistant during the ex-England manager's time in charge of the Chinese club, before starting his new role in which he appointed former Chelsea and Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas as coach.
He told Sport Bild that Bayern's experienced wingers no longer fit the profile for Chinese Super League clubs and they have missed their opportunity to move there.
"It's a misconception that makes me really angry when players in Europe believe they can freely choose the time to move to China. This was the situation three or four years ago but those times are over," he said.
"If Ribery had an offer two or three years ago from China then that was his chance but an ambitious Chinese team like Shanghai SIPG wouldn't sign him or Robben now.
"Why should a Chinese club sign a 33- or 34-year-old when they can get 27-year-old stars like Axel Witsel or Alex Teixeira -- or Oscar at 25?
"Ribery and Robben have missed the chance if they had wanted to play in China. We no longer want these players."
Davidsen added that he would not consider buying any more players from the German top flight.
"We have our top players like Oscar, Hulk, [Ezequiel] Lavezzi, Witsel. People in Europe forget that teams here can only field three foreign players.
"That means we will not be signing any more expensive stars. The Bundesliga doesn't need to worry that the best players will move here."
