Nice will not re-sign Paris Saint-Germain's Hatem Ben Arfa - Rivere

Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere has closed the door on a return for Hatem Ben Arfa after his struggles at Paris Saint-Germain.

Ben Arfa, 30, scored 17 goals in 34 Ligue 1 appearances for Nice in 2015-16 campaign but managed only one assist in 23 outings for PSG.

The France international, who has been told he can leave the Parc des Princes, was left out of coach Unai Emery's International Champions Cup squad.

He has been linked with a return to Nice but Rivere told RMC Sport: "I have been talking about Hatem for weeks.

"He has a very big salary in Paris, and other European clubs are in better positions to interest him.

"We were very happy to have him at our place, and it was a beautiful story we shared. However, it is the past and we need to turn the page."

Rivere was also asked about PSG's interest in Barcelona star Neymar and said a move would be "very good news for Ligue 1 and all of us."

He added: "He is a great player. If PSG are financially capable of landing him, I will be very happy for them.

"Neymar's arrival in Paris would be very good indeed."

A source has told ESPN FC that Neymar and his father have agreed a contract with PSG and it is up to the club to find a way to complete the move without falling foul of financial fair play rules.
