Barcelona's Neymar has 'massive headache' over PSG move - Andre

Neymar has a "massive headache" because of Paris Saint-Germain's bid to sign him from Barcelona in a world-record transfer deal, according to former Santos teammate Andre.

Andre Felipe Ribeiro de Souza -- more commonly known as Andre -- currently plays in attack for Sport Club do Recife but came through the youth ranks at Santos alongside Neymar and the two have remained close despite their careers going in different directions.

The 26-year-old spent a short period on loan in France with Bordeaux in 2011 and told L'Equipe that his friend is sorely tempted by a potential move to PSG.

"I cannot speak for him," Andre said about the transfer. "It is a complicated negotiation process and there is a lot of money at stake in something like this. In any case, Paris is a great city and if he goes there, he will love it, that is certain.

"I know that he has a massive headache because of this right now. It is not an easy decision. In Paris, he will be surrounded by his friends. That does not mean he is uncomfortable at Barca though. On the contrary, he actually feels very good there. Because of that, his choice has been made even harder."

A source close to PSG told ESPN FC at the weekend that Neymar and his father have agreed a deal to move to Parc des Princes.

Although Barca's Gerard Pique tried to calm the speculation by telling supporters via social media that the Brazil international is staying at Camp Nou, a source close to Neymar has told ESPN FC that he had "no idea" why his teammate shared the image.

"How will it end? I have my little idea but honestly, you can never be 100 percent sure in modern football," Andre added. "We are talking about a potentially historic transfer and negotiations to match with enormous amounts of money in play, so we cannot predict an outcome.

"As for me, I can say nothing. I cannot speak for him. It is up to Neymar to announce whether he will go there [to PSG] or not."

Meanwhile, former PSG coach Laurent Blanc took time out from a golf tournament to speak about the possibility of his former employers signing Neymar.

Blanc was sacked last summer to make way for Unai Emery, who struggled to replicate his predecessor's success in his debut campaign.

"PSG want to become a European giant," Blanc is quoted as saying by RMC Sport. "It is a club with incredible economic potential. With a player of Neymar's calibre, PSG could become one of Europe's great clubs in the future.

"Could they win the Champions League with him? Yes. They could also win it with other players. It takes time. It is not a competition you win by simply spending millions. Football does not work like that.

"A club needs stability, a project. PSG have grown very quickly. It is a club that has become important and will win the Champions League one day."

Blanc played for Barca in 1996-97 and was PSG coach from 2013-16, helping to develop Marco Verratti into one of the world's best midfielders.

He knows the Italy international's qualities but does not believe PSG will be persuaded to sell him to Barca.

"I do not know what is going to happen with Marco," Blanc said. "However, he is a very important player for PSG. He has many qualities and PSG will do everything they can to keep him. It will be very difficult for Marco to leave."
