RB Leipzig rejected €75m bid for Liverpool target Naby Keita

Red Bull co-owner Dietrich Mateschitz has confirmed RB Leipzig recently rejected a €75 million bid for Liverpool target Naby Keita.

Keita, 22, has been linked with a move to Liverpool for several weeks, but a source close to Leipzig told ESPN FC this week that they had warned the Premier League side the Guinea international is not for sale at any price.

Mateschitz, whose company sponsors or owns several football clubs as well as two Formula 1 teams, has now confirmed that the Bundesliga side already turned down a big-money offer for Keita.

"We won't sell players who are still under contract just to earn a lot of money," Mateschitz told Sport Bild. "Let me give you an example: Only recently, we received a €75 million bid for Naby Keita. No way!

"He is still under contract and he will fulfil it. Like I said: To sell him would not only be evidence that we don't have belief to our fans but also send the wrong signal for our other players, like Timo Werner for instance. He's also sought-after."

Keita is back in training and played in the preseason friendly at Meuselwitz on Tuesday, and has said he will fly his father to Leipzig for his first Champions League game with the club this season.
