LA Galaxy has made an approach for Tigres' French striker Andre-Pierre Gignac, according to the Liga MX club's sporting director Miguel Angel Garza.

"There was an approach and people from Los Angeles [Galaxy] were actually here," Garza told journalists in Monterrey on Thursday.

Garza stressed that the Galaxy hasn't make a concrete offer for Gignac, but enquired about the 31-year-old's contractual situation.

The Tigres representative also said his club were open to offers for their star player and that while Gignac "has always had the intention of being at Tigres," if the clubs and player can agree a deal, a transfer is possible.

"Nothing is ruled out," Garza said, adding that the ball is in Galaxy's court. "There was an approach and that was it, there was no offer from their part, just an approach."

Gignac has taken Liga MX by storm, scoring 53 goals in 82 games since joining from Marseille for the Apertura 2015.

The Galaxy has struggled so far this season and is down in eighth position in the Western Conference after 18 matches.

Gignac was in California last month, sparking rumors about a potential future in MLS, but Tigres president Alejandro Rodriguez then denied any interest.

"He went to visit Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck with his family," Rodriguez said.

Garza mentioned that Argentine midfielder Guido Pizarro has expressed his desire to join Sevilla and that Tigres are waiting for an improved offer. He also indicated that Ecuadorian winger Enner Valencia is close to joining Tigres from West Ham United.
