Henry Onyekuru announces Everton move and Anderlecht loan move

Henry Onyekuru has confirmed via social media he has joined Everton and been loaned out to Belgian champions Anderlecht for next season.

Sources reported earlier this week Everton had beaten off competition from Arsenal and West Ham to sign Onyekuru, 20, after agreeing a £7 million deal with his club, Eupen.

The Nigeria international, who finished as the Belgian top-flight's joint-top scorer with 22 goals, reportedly had a medical at Everton's Finch Farm training complex on Monday.

Though the transfer has not been made official, Onyekuru pre-empted an announcement by posting a picture of himself in front of a large Everton badge on his Instagram account.

So happy to sign for Everton🙏 #thankful #everton

The youngster then returned to his native country for a few days' holiday, and told SCORENigeria he will be loaned to Anderlecht for the 2017-18 campaign.

"My loan move to Anderlecht is a good step for me and a welcome development because striking a deal is not all about the money involved," he said.

"I am looking forward to another great season in Belgium as well as to feature in the Champions League. I hope to do more than I did last season with KAS Eupen."

Onyekuru will be Everton's third signing of the summer, following Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, who arrived in a club-record £30m deal, and Ajax midfielder Davy Klaasen.
