Naby Keita declares love for Leipzig amid Liverpool transfer talk

Reported Liverpool target Naby Keita has told German newspaper Welt he loves Leipzig, whose football team he helped to second place in the Bundesliga last season.

Keita, whom RB Leipzig value at a reported £70 million, is being tracked by a number of clubs, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp an admirer.

The Guinea international joined the club last summer from Red Bull Salzburg for £12.75m.

His successful season, in which he helped Leipzig secure Champions League football, has enhanced his reputation.

And although that is likely to see a number of rivals test RB Leipzig's resolve, Keita said: "I love Leipzig and I will never forget this city."

A year ago, the 22-year-old claimed he had been approached by a number of English clubs.

"Arsenal, Southampton, Manchester City and Liverpool, although I did not talk with the [Liverpool] coach," he said at the time when asked who had expressed an interest.

"I hope that I have the level in two, three years and could play for one of the very big clubs.

"This includes Barcelona, but it also includes Real Madrid or Manchester City."

Earlier this month, Leipzig said they would not allow Keita or Emil Forsberg a transfer away from the Zentralstadion this summer.
