Sergio Aguero: I want to see out my contract at Manchester City

Sergio Aguero has told Xinhua that he has no plans to leave Manchester City this summer and wants to see out the remaining two years of his contract before considering his future.

Aguero, 29, was linked with a City exit last season, having spent some time on the bench under Pep Guardiola, while in February he said that it would be down to the club to decide if they wanted to keep him.

The Argentina international could face extra competition for a starting spot at City next season, with sources telling ESPN FC that the club want to sign Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez, while Gabriel Jesus has impressed since his January arrival at the Etihad Stadium.

But Aguero said: "I still have two years on my contract with Manchester City. I feel very happy here, so I will fulfil my contract to stay here until the end of my contract.

"I have not thought about where to play next. I just want to focus on the work here."

While Aguero did spend some time on the bench last season he finished strongly to score a total of 33 goals in all competitions for City.

"I think my season was not bad. My form was pretty good," he said. "That is true, I missed a lot of games and that stopped me from helping the team score more goals. But overall it was a very positive season."

Aguero was asked by Xinhua what the chances were of his Argentina teammate Lionel Messi joining him at City.

"There isn't a team in the world that would not want to have Messi as a player," he said. "But I think he is doing pretty well at Barcelona. So I think he will stay there until the end of his contract, because he is growing with Barcelona and has grown into one of the best players in the world."
