Man City ready to wait for Sanchez, not looking at Aubameyang - sources

Manchester City are prepared to be patient in their bid to sign top attacking target Alexis Sanchez but are not ready to make a move for Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, sources have told ESPN FC.

Sanchez, 28, has been identified by City boss Pep Guardiola as a priority but a deal is complicated by Arsenal's unwillingness to sell to a Premier League rival.

The Chile international is entering the final year of his Arsenal contract and could leave the club for free at the end of next season.

But Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger says Sanchez will stay at the club despite City being ready to pay around £40 million for him this summer.

Chelsea and Bayern Munich have also been linked with moves for the forward but sources have told ESPN FC that City believe he will choose a transfer to the Etihad Stadium if Arsenal do decide to sell.

Sanchez has refused to comment on the speculation and says he is leaving his future to his agent while he focuses on the Confederations Cup in Russia with Chile.

A deal could be possible if Arsenal can sign a top-quality replacement and they have been linked with an ambitious move for Monaco teenager Kylian Mbappe.

Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette has also been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal could also try to sign Aubameyang themselves.

But sources have told ESPN FC that City are not currently considering a move for the Dortmund striker, despite reports claiming that they are preparing a bid for him.

Aubameyang said that there was interest from City last summer, but a move never materialised and the Premier League club signed Gabriel Jesus instead.
